The Income tax department is governed by the apex body of Central Board for Direct Taxes also known as CBDT.
It comes under the Central Ministry of Finance and the main function of the Board is to implement various tax laws of Income Tax Act 1961 and also ensure collection of taxes across all regions of India.

Eligibility Criteria for Income Tax Recruitment 2022
There are few requirements to be kept in mind while applying for Income Tax Recruitment as you have to eligible for the post and the eligibility criteria includes the following:
Age: The maximum age at which a candidate can apply for the post is 56, beyond which you cannot apply.
Therefore the age limit is fixed and mandatory to be followed by everyone otherwise will be disqualified.
Education: As per the notification in the official website, the minimum education required is Post Graduate and only a person with PG Degree will be qualified for applying for the exam.
Salary: The salary structure of the selected candidate for the post will be from Rs. 15,600/- to Rs. 39,100/- and also there will be a grade pay of Rs. 5,400/-.
The grade scale may change as per the notification of the Government. The structure of the salary for different posts is as follows:
- Inspector of Income-tax: Rs.44,900/- per month
- Tax Assistant: Rs.25,500/- per month
- Multi-Tasking Staff: Rs.19,000/- per month
- Stenographer Grade 2 Vacancy: Rs.20,200/- per month
